Goodbye Waze

Google just gets creepier and creepier. “The NSA gathers data on innocent people – I’m shocked, I tell you!”

I have an app called Waze – it’s in theory a useful app – it is crowd sourced traffic. It watches the speed of the people who have the app open to monitor the speeds on the freeways, etc and you can report accidents, construction, radar traps, red light cameras, and even socially interact with other people on the road.

As a byproduct, it is of course tracking everywhere you drive, which has the potential to disclose way too much information about you. Not a problem as long as Google doesn’t buy them. Oops!

iOS7’s new features were introduced yesterday. Beyond the cosmetics, one of the more significant changes is to the way multitasking and background processes work. With a few exceptions like streaming music, iDevices are not really multitasking, they just switch quickly from one app to another and sometimes remember what you were doing. The new multitasking will allow generally most processes to lurk in the background and continue doing stuff without having to be the visible app.

What hath God wrought?

What hath Google wrought? da ObamaNation and Big Brother have formed an unholy alliance, but nobody is listening to our phone calls. Meta Data is the Holy Grail these days. In the hallowed halls of the Temple of Security da Computer sifts through data compiling neat rows of 0’s &1’s that await further analysis, but nobody listens to our phone calls.

da Computer intercepts, deciphers, analyzes, and stores vast amounts of the world’s communications. Phone calls, emails, Internet searches, blog posts, and encrypted data is sucked into the Abyss via satellites, underground and undersea cables of international, foreign, and domestic networks, but nobody is listening to our phone calls.

Flowing thru its veins of copper, gold and silver are our credit card receipts, travel itineraries, bookstore purchases, and other digital fluff. da Computer is informationally Awake and Aware. da Computer knows where we are, where we’ve been and where we’re going better than our closest friend, but nobody is listening to our phone calls.

da Computer is Awake and Aware of our financial information, stock market transactions, business deals, foreign military and diplomatic secrets, legal documents, and confidential personal communications. We may heavily encrypt our data but a breakthrough in da Computer’s ability to break our best efforts of cryptology have been achieved, but nobody is listening to our phone calls.

da Computer has been taught to avoid humiliations. Breeches of security that allowed spontaneous attacks to be carried out against Big Brother are in the past. Rehearsed and practiced drills using hapless underlings are now carried out. The whispered prayers of those who worship in the Temple of Security is “Never Say Anything to Nobody”. Secrecy is the mantra, but nobody is listening to our phone calls.

Who even makes phone calls any more?

      • Nidster says:

Exactly!!! So da ObamaNation can claim, I didn’t lie to the Amurican people when I said, “Nobody is listening to your phone calls.”

Those in the Temple of Security are interested in the ‘invisible’ Internet, aka, data stored or swirling around in the DeepNet and beyond the reach of most nations. Password protected data, foreign and domestic government communications, and even file-sharing between Corporations. The DeepWeb contains information of high value the intell agencies, and ‘others’.

But, da Computer also compiles our digital traffic and we are being profiled by Big Brother, nasty words to the Lefties and those who are informed.

LOL well, some of us here in ‘flyover’ country still use the land line. Actually Verizon had to fix the line the other day. Works good again.
We are all gonna need a good ITT rotary dial phone one of these days, unfortunately. Especially with ‘Herman Munster’ aka ‘ ol shoeface’ running the state department.
Wonder if he likes all of Ol Hillary’s leftover girls, around over there at the state department? Supposedly, word on the street is they have good deals on meth, LOL

If I recall articles and books correctly that I have read over the decades by NSA expert journalst James Bamford, it has worked like this for decades:

Overseas phone calls have been recorded and stored for quite some time and monitored by Artificial Intelligence and human beings of there is a specific person of or phone number of interest. The monitoring included voice to text – the way many phone companies offer to send you text emails of your voicemails.

With the above going on, and 100s of billions of dollars and years later, it is a small step to doing the same with domestic phone calls, and no one in Congress is saying that it would be illegal for NSA to do so.
