Art Bell says we will too some day. 😉

according to the video, the poles on the earth flip much less often – about every 200,000 years, give or take an ice age. The reason we know that is rocks with iron in them align to where the poles were when the rock hardened. Those of you who want to argue that the Earth is only 10,000 years old are excused and can join the Bible study in the library.

Contrary to Art (and Mr Hoaxland)’s theory, the planet doesn’t suddenly turn upside down – he is confusing gravitation with magnetism. The effect of magnetism on the Earth is negligible – certainly nowhere what it would take to disrupt the angular momentem of the Earth’s mass spinning once a day.

It will however ruin your day if you are flying a plane without GPS – the magnetic deviation between rotational north and gravitational north is now quite wide. If you were standing at the magnetic north pole, you would be drowning right now.
