You’ve probably heard about Arhive.org, a place where you can see the history of a web site.
The Searchmee! data is restored (mostly) – most of the web pages it indexed were in 2004 and 2005. The Search is working normally – I would advise having all your antivirus defenses on Max if you choose to follow any of the links, though. A lot of them are long ago abandoned.
I’m patching up the links as I find them, since this isn’t living in its own domain.
There are things you can do with Searchmee that you can’t do with any other search engine (that I know of). For example, put in a search for Malkin, and of course Michelle Malkin comes right up – but over on the right side, you’ll see a link that says “Links” – if you click on that, you’ll see why Michell Malkin has “juice” on the internet – the web sites that constantly link to her… Drudge report is at the top, and you’ll notice a link that says “1901” – that’s the number of links from Drudge to Malkin – if you click on the 1901, that will take you to Drudge Report, and show you why it has “juice”. You walk any of the juice givers back and try to find the origin of power of the entire internet 🙂
Let’s play the game with huffingtonpost.com – oh look here, the top linker is Drudge Report. We know that Andrew Breitbart helped created Huffington Post and was a very close friend of Drudge – I’m shocked, I tell you!
So play connect the dots to your heart’s content
The top 100 links also seem to be working..
I had an inspiration today for a free-for-all Wikipedia like site – where everyone can just make up whatever history they want, and have reversion wars endlessly. What do you think of that idea?
I don’t believe Wikipedia exists. I will write an entry to that effect.
You can warm up by asserting that Wikipedia doesn’t meet its own criteria for being a reliable original source, therefore all of the internal links within Wikipefia should be deleted
