Well, this is a new wrinkle…

So this is the 10th time you’ve seen this Cell Phone sponsored “PSA” about the consequences of texting while driving sponsored by AT&T….
If you don’t want to be pestered by PSAs like this again, you can pay just a few pennies ($.10) for each ad to skip them. Someone tell the stations that there are over 10,100 radio stations that stream, so nobody is going to pay this extortion, at least I don’t think so.
Here is their web site – http://www.skipit.com/
crack that skip
give the past the slip
step on a crack
break your momma’s back
when a problem comes along
you must skip it
before the cream sits out too long
you must skip it
when something’s going wrong
you must skip it
Skip it good!
Is there a BAD time for DEVO?
You hear it calling everywhere you turn
You know you’re headed for the pleasure burn
But the words get stuck on the tip of your tongue
It’s the real thing but you knew it all along
It’s just the skip, just the skip
That u want
It’s just the skip, just the skip
That u want
Just as an aside, there is so much wrong in the “story” of how the texting woman paralyzed the athletic chubby 5 year old crossing the street with his 13 year old sister who “never saw the car coming”
That woman can do more skipping herself to lose a few pounds, or she might have trouble buying an expensive handbag in Switzerland.
If only 10 people sign up and start skipping for her so she doesn’t have to, maybe she can buy the handbag on the internet.
Just one of the inconsistencies is her claim that Xzavier used to be an energetic athletically inclined 5 year old, where the picture shows a morbidly obese child. I’ll bet you anything his 13 year old sister had a cell phone in her hand.
The first thing I learned in kindergarten was “before you start to cross the street, look both ways for cars”. Even if the woman was speeding and blew through the stop sign, you wouldn’t have the 13 year old saying “we never saw the car coming”. I also really doubt her claim she was holding his hand at the time, otherwise she would have been hit also.
About two years ago, this became the poster child story. The woman’s insurance paid $50k, the limit of the policy, but the medical bills are already a million dollars and he apparently has a full time nurse. Care to guess who is paying for that?
I have a vague memory the telcos agreed to ths ad campaign during the debate over whether cell phones would be made unable to send a text while in motion
