Government is like a virus, once it infects an enterprise it hijacks it and spreads throughout the enterprise. Eventually it kills it and move on.
One of the shocks to me after arriving in Connecticut was. News item about a celebration that Connecticut State had finished up its $1 billion building expansion program. CT is not that big of a state and was a holdout to not have an income tax… So they spent ~$28k per student, apparently building dorms with granite topped counters and showers made of gold
