I’m not quite sure what happened yet, but around 3 AM the server “hung” – this is when a bunch of overnight things run – like backups, getting updated FCC data, etc… I still don’t know why it did that… normally in the past, some spider goes nuts and floods the server with more traffic than it can handle.
It looks like it is back up, but the “what’s on now” is currently in some odd sort sequence that I haven’t sorted out yet – putting Alex Jones at the top. Maybe the NSA is onto us.
It looks like the daily backup was the culprit – it got in a deadlock with another batch thing set to run at the same time.

If this hard drive dies…. look for a false flag event within two weeks.
I was thinking about that this morning – the web site is (mostly) running from a moderately slow USB external hard drive. That makes it self contained and flexible, but at risk for physical damage. The data is replicated to my windows XP machine and backed up on the eMachine internal hard drive.
If I move the web server entirely to the internal drive, then I could buy a new 1TB external drive for like $70 – enough to hold billions of NSA documents
Here is one of my future projects… a centralized data source.

I can’t wait until we can store a petabyte on a DVD (a million gigabytes, more or less)
It was probably the big bad GOOG:

See, now you’ve gone and done it to me again!!! I was having a very nice day until you posted that link.
First do no evil.
What we do isn’t evil because it is us doing it.
Google Street View will be very helpful when the Blue Helmets arrive to accidentally give us cholera. Waze will make sure the convoys stay in touch.
Googlers are gruesome “foaming-at-the-mouth” creatures and are just lowly minions doing the bidding of the evildoers.
