How is Andrea Tantaros doing?

Having a good face for TV doesn’t assure you’ll be a success on radio. Andrea appears on Fox News and has made a decent living a paid consultant for the Republican Party.

Her show debuted in November 2012 after Laura Ingraham suddenly was released from her contract with Talk Radio Network (TRN) – after almost a year of being online, picking up affiliates from Neal Boortz retiring and lining up a loyal audience, how is she doing?

Breaking into syndicated radio against an established name is really hard

What is interesting is how she does against other names who have been on the radio longer. She beats out Quinn & Rose and Mike Gallagher. I’m surprised that she beats out Brian Kilmeade, too. I listen when I can. She’s created an app recently so you can listen on your smart phone at any time. Ingraham has not done that, to my knowledge. You have to pay to listen to Ingraham anytime other than when she is live. It would be interesting to see how the shows with apps that let you listen anytime fare in overall listener audience.

You raise an interesting point – people listening via an app wouldn’t be counted here. Gallagher has been on a slow steady decline. He’s syndicated by religious broadcaster Salem Communications, a for profit publicly traded company. Most of his affiliates are Salem’s Owned & Operated (O&O) stations, which have a negligible market share (less than 1%)

Quinn & Rose are not syndicated nationally, although they’ve been on XM. Their “rating” here is exaggerated as it is probably people who found them on XM and want to listen somewhere other than the Pittsburgh area

If Dial Global / Westwood One is acquired by Cumulus, Dennis Miller is one of the people who is going to be squeezed – Lew Dickey probably won’t want to operate competing talk radio formats

Each of the Millers are ahead of Quinn & Rose together and ahead of Kilmeade & Friends, but only Dennis and not Stephanie is ahead of Quinn, Rose, Kilmeade and Friends together. However, the Millers together are ahead of Quinn, Rose, Kilmeade and Friends together.

Won’t you please join me in listening to Mrs Miller sing about forgetting all your troubles (not tribbles)

Tantaros does put on a decent radio show. She’s smart and funny and does NOT speak in the 3rd person when talking about herself-as does Miss Laura. And she actually lets her guests speak-unlike Miss Laura. Her good looks never hurt her, I’m sure, getting a job but she can’t help that. However, unless she does a web cam, like Dana Loesch (the next star in radio BTW, IMHO) she can’t use that to her advantage.
A little too much pop culture for me but ya gotta figure her audience includes a lot of stay-at-home Moms and Dads who actually know who won American Idol last week.

Being born on 30 December 1978, she is young enough to be the daughter or granddaughter of my of the others in that pie chart. She is doing well and getting better with experience. Just remember that the GW Bush/ Al Gore/ Harry Brown election in 2000 was the first Presidential election for which she was eligible to vote.

I enjoy listening to her. She is not shrill like Laura Ingraham seems to have become. And I agree that she lets her guests speak. She comes across as intelligent, unlike Hannity, who is more like a little terrier yipping around your heels. I hope she does well.
