If Republicans want to kill Obamacare, let it go into effect

I think the slumbering masses are awaking from their slumber. When they realize that 10% of their income is about to be taken by insurance companies to provide no coverage for the first $5-10k per year of insurance expenses, the proverbial excrement is going to hit the fan.

Where is my free cheeze? What? I have to pay for this and get taxed if I don’t like I’m a criminal?

To speed up the process, bump up the “tax”/penalty right away to a minimum of $2k a year or 5% of income, whichever is greater. Let’s stop the pussy footing around and get serious about herding everyone into health insurance reform!

Then see what happens in the 2014 elections…

  2. Yup. It does seem that delaying it a year would only dilute the ’14 elections. If they just let it go into effect there will be a lot of evidence if it’s not working. And if t *is* working, everyone will know it, right?

Either way, the Dems (and progressive Republicans like McCain) now have taken ownership of Obamacare. It’s on them. We’re already screwed…so just turn it loose and let it happen.

How do we know whether it is working? Was the intent for doctors to see twice as many patients per day or work for half as many dollars per year?

As yourself why the new immigration bill was designed to flood the country with more gardeners and landscapers that the doctors employ rather than more doctors.

In 1986, I broke my foot in a car accident and my orthopedic surgeon was from India. His approach seemed a bit less “formal” than I expected. When he removed the pin holding my bones in place, it started to bleed, which it should not have done and he didn’t notice before he left the room. His staff had a little mess to clean up.

Based on my contacts with Indians and other Asian IT folks, I’m very skeptical of people claiming to have degrees.

Same experience. They work for “consulting” companies that claim to have verified them much the same way a used car dealer verifies that the previous owner took good care of the car.

The GOP base is going to be pissed if the Republicans can not extract some concession from the Democrats and al-Obama in particular. If not the GOP will suffer badly in 2014. It all needs to be done before the drop-dead date and the debt ceiling is reached.

I wonder how many things the government will shut down before people (other than the media) clamor for the government to reopen. Early reports are people don’t care. Prepare for the sob stories of children dying of cancer.

        This hour’s list (ABC News)
        – head start is shut down
        – military PXs are closed
        – a football game was almost called off

      • Nidster says:

The ‘sob stories’ are already out there. Although the exact date is unknown, I expect enough Republicans would fold before the drop-dead date is reached and be willing to vote FOR a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) to raise the debt ceiling.

Ultimately the call will be Boehner’s to make because he controls whether or not a bill is actually introduced for a vote to increase the debt ceiling. I am no expert on this but it seems to me he could put up a bill regarding ObamaCare with an amendment tacked onto to it that increases the debt ceiling. Then when the bill hits the Senate, Reid can not strip out the amendment if he wants the debt ceiling increased.

I could be wrong about the mechanics of how it would work. Anyone want to chime in?

There are two different issues – the obamacare funding and the ACA insurance changes. The Obamacare subsidy is ultimately a refundable tax credit that doesn’t need funding in 2014. That would mean people below 4x the poverty level ($45k for an individual) would have to pay the full premium and get a $6000 tax refund if Obamacare is ultimately funded. The Guarantee Issue, free preventive care, no preexisting exclusions go forward. The debt ceiling isn’t allowed to be a vehicle to change laws. As was proven today, most tactics Boehner would try to use need more than a majority to suspend the rules.

YES! The default is a red herring- the government revenue each month from payroll deductions alone is enough to pay the interest on the outstanding treasuries.

The administration’s arguement is that it needs to borrow more money to pay the interest on the outstanding loans when it should in fact be paying down the debt.

          If not now, when?

If the treasury (Obama/ Lew) decides to allocate the revenue toward all the Obamaphones and the hundreds of military bases rather than paying interest on the existing loans that will go down in history as a bad decision by Obama rather than by Sen Cruz.

Again, the default on the 17th of October is a hoax. If I can figure it out, so can Sen Cruz.

Hells Bells, al-Obama must be seriously worried and all the ‘stops’ are being pulled in order to scare the cheese out of the low infor’s.

Oh Lord, if this can only go on for at least a couple of weeks we are going to see quite a show.

Shots fired at the Capital today. Who could have ever seen that coming?

Harry Reid has already stated that anyone who is fighting Obamacare must be an anarchist planning the violent overthrow of the government. His cards are face up on the table.

          • CC1s121LrBGT says:

More firing at the government today than government employees were fired from the events around Benghazi, IRS scandal, Fast’n’Furious, and 9-11 combined.

          • Art Stone says:

All of the shots that were fired that scared Congress were fired by police at a woman (deceased) who was driving her car with a young child inside. The initial report was she tried to drive onto the White House grounds. Perhaps she wanted to talk with the Messiah about her health care.

          • Reports I’ve heard (that they’re denying) are that it’s a Somali woman. Not for nothing, but most Somalis are Muslims.

If true, then this is obviously the work of the Tea Party again. Those bastards.

          • Good to know it’s isolated. Funny how these things always come up just when the King needs a distraction, and 100% of the time it turns out to benefit him.

I used to think Alex Jones was a nut. He might still be one at that, but the sun shines on even a dog’s ass now and then.
