I’ve been accused of liking to point out the obvious.
The 3rd day of the Nielsen Audio Radio (former Arbitron) ratings came out today. One number just jumps off the page.
WLW-AM in Cincinnati has a 13.7% market share (top line). That is one of the highest in the country.
So what’s the connection? That rating is due to a significant degree to Bill Cunningham (he does a local show in addition to his Sunday night national show). Back in the 2008 campaign, John McCain decided to make an example of Cunningham and “took him to the woodshed” for daring to emphasize that Barack Obama’s middle name is Hussein, implying that the future president may still have sympathies with Islamic religion.
OK, fine. Why is anyone still listening to McCain? They clearly are listening to Cunningham now.
While I have not listened to Bill Cunningham in 4-5 years, his 2008 predictions appear to be spot-on. Was it not during, or near al-Obama’s ‘in-augur-a-tion’ that POTUS proudly proclaimed his name to be Barack Hussein Obama? Not his birth name for sure, but the one by which he wanted to define himself to others.
So far as my comments of Sen. John McCain go, I will note that this man appears to be the quintessential RINO, and only needs to be listened to in order to learn to what new low point he will next stoop.
My suspicion that the Kenyon, has seriously distorted MME. de Pompadour’s observation, “après moi, le déluge”. It seems as if he is governing this way, scorched earth on purpose. If the republic can recover* he needs to see chains and the dock – this post-presidential coddling must end.
* Can the people make it happen? The paperclip corps of the military (inside the beltway) is gone – just perverse, lost.
Remember when the economy was crashing around us during the 2008 campaign and McCain said “the economy’s not my strong suit”? What a genius!
I’m sure it is a coincidence that the number I called for Obamacare
is 1-800-F1UCKYO
I called your number and found it was in fact an obamacare number. lol
I tried this number and got a fast busy signal:

The 1 on a phone doesn’t have letters, hence why I typed the 1
How about this one from Feb 2008, TheJerseyDevil?

McCain’s dad and grandfather were both admirals in the Navy. McCain is an excellent example of the three generation rule, except the “company business” is the US Navy. He was totally incompetent as a pilot, hence not a surprise he wound up in the Hanoi Hilton. The pressure to abandon South Vietnam was no doubt increased because the Admiral’s son was in captivity.
What does that say for the Republican Party for nominating him after 8 years of spending-like-a-drunken-sailor-Bush?
Then in 2012, after years campaigning against Obamacare, they nominate the father of Obamacare?
Not telling them how they should stand on specific issues, but does create an image of professional incompetence.
Agree 100%.
McCain never figured out his rallies suddenly caught fire only if Sarah Palin was there.
I’m not going to sugar coat Palin – her experience was a bit thin to be VP, but her instincts and ability to organize people and surround herself with good people count for a lot.
One was a “hockey mom” and the other, as Don Rickles would say, a “hockey puck”. 😉
Conservartive icon, William F. Buckley once ran for political office against the Establishement Reupublican candidate, John Lindsay in order to give conservatives a real choice from the “chosen” candidate.
Perhaps the time has come for a 3rd political party.
The problem is that “true Conservatives” are a small minority of the public. They might win a handful of House seats and local elections, but they’ll never be anything close to a ruling majority. I think it’s a pretty safe bet that the majority of Republicans are so-called “RINOs”
Strom Thurmond on the other hand was clearly a RINO.
I tend to agree that a 3rd political party would have a difficult time gaining any traction, e.g. look at the Libertarian Party and a host of other minor political parties. One benefit would be to inject some fresh ideas into the system.
If a small handful of people were elected to the House of Representatives they would be free to be a ‘swing’ vote on certain issues.
Attention Nidster, Some good news.

Hah! Don Rickles – a nostalgic memory for sure. Thanks CC! A great way to start the day.
