How can a 9 station radio owner be running using only a PO box?

The FCC requires that full power radio and TV stations have a physical business location staffed during regular business hours. How is it possible that the FCC allows the contact information on FCC licenses to be a PO box?

HISPANIC FAMILY CHRISTIAN NETWORK is based in Dallas TX with just a PO Box. The address listed where the 3 owners “live” is a virtual office service.

What is a virtual office nowadays? REITs and the buildings not the companies that have their names in neon lights on the buildings.

A virtual office is one secretary answering the phones for 1,000 different “companies” depending on what phone number was called, and maybe offering to “connect” you to the owner by forwarding the call to a cell phone (whose number will not be known to the caller). They probably have a conference room that can be rented, and maybe a copy machine.

I suspect if I exercised my rights and show up and ask to see the atation’s public inspection file, I would get just a blank stare – or if I was persistent a tazering, mauling by a police dog or shot 15 times in a way that was within acceptable guidelines.

“Virtual office” reminds me of the “Rockford Files” television show in the mid 1970s. The private detective, James Garner, would show up somewhere and want to talk with someone that would not want to talk with a private detective…..

so he would open the glove compartment of his car, and take out a small business card printing press and give himself the name, title and employer that maximized his chances of a successful conversation. 😉

Somewhat related, but if a Corporation can legally be considered a “Person” then by extension of that flawed logic a PO Box could be considered a physical location. We continue to descend into the Abyss….someday we won’t be able to stop the slide…..
