Low Power FM window has closed

The Low power FM “window that the FCC stalled on doing for over 10 years has come and gone. It was delayed by the government shutdown, thn extended when the FCC computers crashed due to the high volume of applications the final day.

LPFM stations can operate nowhere on the FM band that doesn’t interfere with an existing station. The maximum power is 100 watts and limited to a five mile range. We’ll see if any TEA party folks applied for one.

This is thebmain group that talked Congress into LPFM as an alternative to people doing pirate radio. An LPFM station has to be backed by a non-profit entity.

What don’t we grant each Navigator their own LPFM to help with the enrollments? 😉

Yes – folks listen to their radio … AND watch TV and movies and text and read online news ALL on their smartphone while driving to work and back. That’s the 245 million.

I’m guessing, to many of them Pandora and SiriusXM are “radio” since they come out of that radio thing in their car. The NAB isn’t exactly motivated to dig too deeply.

Radio Disney is letting go of three more AM stations in today’s news – taking a huge bath. They’re not even converting them to ESPN radio, which Disney still owns

I’m sure parents sleep better at night knowing their daughters want to grow up to be Hannah Montana / Miley Cyrus
