Down in Roswell, NM

The facts as can be gathered so far are as children were arriving for class, a 12 year old boy pulled a shotgun out from a band case, fired the gun at another student who was his intended target (and also hit a nearby girl) then fired the shotgun a second time in the air.

Most shotguns only hold two shells and require manual reloading. The brave teacher and off duty policeman probably know this, since guns are very necessary in the desert of New Mexico.

Shooting the second shell up into the air was signaling he was done shooting and no longer an active threat.

The target is not dead and we likely will never know the motive for what was obviously a premeditated attack.

Jim Bohannon is blaming this on schools selling soda.

Soda? That makes as much sense as the libs calling “Lone Survivor” propaganda. Has the entire population become zombies?

It made no sense to me either. Jimbo gets on these pet rants from time to time and you can hear the adrenalin rush in his voice..

He was talking with a security consultant about the incident, and the general path was that the people who run the schools have lost control. They’ll compromise the health of the children by making a few bucks allowing vending machines in the schools and causing an obesity epidemic because homeowners won’t give the schools enough tax money, so it’s no wonder they won’t spend the money on security. all children should be inside locked schoolrooms at all times with armed security guards. Then they’ll be safe.

Actually, most shotguns can hold (fire) from 4 to 8 shells… plus one in the chamber.

I believe you’re thinking of a ‘double-barreled’ shotgun typically used for skeet, etc.

    • Art Stone says:

My assumption was that the gun was not military or law enforcement.

If the gun is used for shooting birds, federal law limits the capacity to three shells. He had only three shells and fired all three, only one aimed at people.

He is another video game player, which may or may not mean anything. I would be curious if he was on medications. He apparently posted a message on social media hinting he was going to do something.

      • Nidster says:

Federal law limits the capacity to three shells, but almost all pump and automatic shotguns have a ‘plug’ installed in the magazine that limits the capacity to three shells. The ‘plug’ can be removed without much expertise.

I’m waiting for the revelation the kid had been prescribed psychoactive drugs, although they were not to blame.

      • TheChairman says:

Ah… I’m not a hunter (per se) and wasn’t aware of that limitation.

The only Federal law I knew of (for shotguns) was an 18″ barrel.

Of course, mine is for ‘home defense’ so I won’t tell you how many shells it’ll hold, or the barrel length. You’ve been warned. 🙂

The details are starting to come out, but I’m not sure they are yet accurate. It was a pump shotgun and he fired three times – once at the floor, once at the ceiling and once at students from 12-15 feet away.

Now the police say the gun was brought in using a duffel bag, not a band instrument case. The report says it was sawed off and cane from home, in which case someone has some explaining to do.
