Drinking Diet Soda doesn’t lower calorie intake

A 10 year study with a large sample (24,000) finds that people consuming diet soda take in more calories from food as those who drink sugary sodas.

This is not news that diet soda has significant negative health effects. Unfortunately, the John Hopkins study doesn’t address mortality, morbidity or increased health costs.

Nothing sets me off faster than a person at a restaurant who thinks they are being “helpful” by slipping the fat guy a diet soda. I never ever order it and make sure I speak clearly.

They’re all correct, I’m living proof. Rush has even commented. Kicking DCoke has been the most difficult thing for me to change my behavior on. I’m at about 4.5 months with out the stuff. I used to smoke 3 packs of Lucky Strike no filters a day.

Yeah, count me in on wanting to see a study that does address mortality, morbidity or increased health costs for people who do, and those who do not drink diet soda.

Art, if you’ve made it this far after breathing 2nd-hand smoke you should be OK. The main thing I learned early on was to not smoke indoors. Bad practice for sure.

HPaws, good to hear you no longer smoke cigarettes made by Big Tobacco, they almost killed me before I learned it was best to smoke natural tobacco. It has been 14 years now, and I am so much more healthy now. Have not had any health problems not even a flu virus or any other cold virus since I quit. Granted, I could still get cancer due to having used tobacco for so long, and I still do. I also believe my use of strong chemicals in a job I had in my youth, as well as pesticides, herbicides and other such stuff could be a contributing factor.
