Cheerwine is a local soft drink. It is fruity – tastes a little like Dr Pepper, but is based on the taste of black cherry. I found it for sale at the local Walmart, which understands its stores in Charlotte are in North Carolina, not California.
Cheerwine’s owner was a major donor to the college I attended in Salisbury. When I was condo hunting, I noticed someone had turned the old Cheerwine building in downtown Salisbury into condos. You could just walk out the front door and be a block from Main Street.
Lance Crackers are very much a Charlotte thing. They have a major plant in South Charlotte that was a major employer – my nephew from Seattle insists there is no such factory (it’s now hidden by a bridge over the LRV line running its empty trains back and forth)

Ahh – another installment of food porn!
“my nephew from Seattle” go Seahawks đŸ™‚
I believe he’s a Carolina Panthers fan now, but much more devotee to the SC Gamecocks.
Go Clemson!
Ah!!! Food Porn, a good topic. I would load my kids in the car for a trip up to the mountain streams for a trout fishing adventure and we loved Payday candy bars, very much like the Lance peanut bars. Cheerwine is good now and then.
Try some ChicharrĂ³n (pork rind) sometime.
