The Wells Fargo PGA event will be April 28th-May 4th less than a mile from my new home (I didn’t know that when I bought it)
Back in my TV era, the PGA and others were plagued by ths guy who would show up in a T-Shirt saying “John 3:16” and he had mastered being able to position himself so the TV camera couldn’t keep him out of the picture, to the great annoyance of the people on TV and to my great amusement.
That got me to wondering what happened to him – I thought he was dead, but he’s in prison

The message is pretty clear – don’t screw around with TV. America loves its Sports!
How much do you think a 3X John 3:16 tshirt would cost?
Interesting – do we buy the story that Rollen went nutso? John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son…” It was a pivotal point in history to be sure.
I see prices around $30 for a XXXL T shirt. We could take up a collection and you could wear it to that cafeteria style restaurant (was it K&W?).
He started out by wearing those rainbow color wigs before he Found Jesus and started the John 3:16 thing.
In the radio biz, most of the on air music talent hate religion and all have stories about screwing with the broadcasts of the Sunday morning programs – like running the reel to reel tape backwards by accident and nobody calling the station to complain,
I remember being the station engineer in my youth and most of the “talent” enjoyed the day off (Sunday). The religious show was on tape and commercials were cut in where appropriate. I am sure the talent didn’t care for the religion, but they were nowhere to be seen on a Sunday. And, no, I never ran the reel-to-reel backwards. We did play various Beatles albums backwards on occasion (remember vinyl?).
Only vaguely 😉 the inserts you had to stick in the 45 rpm records to play them on a regular turntable.
After the radio business became more crowded, my dad started making direct to disk recordings at Chautauqua and then did disk to disk reproduction – a tedious process. When consumer magnetic tape became available, he bought a tape recorder which was taken to events, then crude editing could be done by starting and stopping the tape recorder with tape to tape or tape to disc. About the time I came along, he had created a business of recording weddings on audio disc, and us children were recruited to get him to the church and get set up. Some times the couple didn’t know and my dad had to hide under whatever was available to conceal him. I figure in some cases the motivation was to remind people down the road of their marriage vows 😉
