Rahm Emanuel’s Noodles

In October 2008 at the height of the banking crisis during the final months of the George W Bush second term, I was shopping in the local discount grocery store in Derby, CT – since put out of business by an obnoxious anti-business city government. They had cases of Ramen noodles for something like $5 for a 24 unit case. Being an Alex Jones listener, I think “hmmm… $5 that might save my life someday…” The choice was obvious.

So these things bounced around in the trunk of my car moving from CT to Chicago, then sat in the sun for a year in Chicago in the parking lot, then another 18 months in North Carolina in the car. Hey, I don’t want to not have them when the EAS is activated!

I never ate these in college. Any suggestions?

Ah, that was a softball. The answer was “throw them out”.

It turns out ramen noodles are not even “cheap calories”. One package with 2 servings is 380 calories, and costs around $.60 cents by the 24 case. That works out to about $1.70 per 1000 calories.

I happen to like Ramen Noodles. I make them with pinto beans and some hot peppers and it’s quite acceptable. Sometimes, in lieu of the above-mentioned add-ons I just poach a couple of eggs in the soup. Odd, but tasty.
I am never led by the price of things, I just eat them because I like them.
