Dirk Van has been the host of First Light for a very long time. First Light and America in the Morning with Jim Bohannon are essentially the same show, but with different hosts and Pedigrees. First Light goes back to the days of NBC radio which was acquired by Westwood One. America in the Morning was a program on the Mutual Radio Network, which was also acquired later by Westwood One. Westwood One is now owned by Cumulis Media.
At least temporarily, the show will have a new host, a person you probably have never heard of – Evan Haning. Haning is a Washington DC area newscaster and has recently been doing the Westwood One “generic” hourly news that is carried on Cumulus stations after they dropped ABC radio news to save money.
Jim Bohannon just signed a long term renewal with Westwood One, so he probably isn’t going away any time soon.
