Super Saturday

The AP is calling Kansas for Ted Cruz. The most recent poll had Trump ahead 35-29%. If the AP is right, this is a major shift toward President Cruz. There was no poll for Maine, but Drudge shows early results for Cruz winning in Maine, which seems unlikely given the liberal Republicans of New England. Perhaps the marching orders for crossover voting was switched to support Cruz instead of Rubio.

If this is a dramatic shift away from Trump, that leaves us with the question of whether Ted Cruz can win on the first ballot. The answer is… Maybe, but it won’t be easy.

I think Trump running away from addressing CPAC may be his undoing. It was a lose-lose. If he showed up, he would get a hostile reception. If he doesn’t show up, he is communicating what everyone already knows – that Trump is about as “Conservative” as Michael Savage, meaning not at all.

If nobody wins on the first ballot, the DNC has a hard decision. Do they back Cruz? Will some Republicans follow Trump to a third party. I found out tonight that I’m not the only person who thinks Trump is working for Hillary.

If the RNC wants a unified Convention, Rubio needs to quit tonight, or no later than Tuesday night. If Cruz has the backing of the party, he might win the winner take all states on March 15th and make a Trump win impossible. Glenn Beck might get his dream team.

After announcing that he had given up on Michigan, Kasich is now leading in the poll that just came out. Trump lost -10 and Kasich went from 15% to 33%. Michigan votes on Tuesday.

Kasich is so far behind he can’t win on the first ballot, but he could be an acceptable choice to the establishment if they reject Trump and Cruz. Kasich has experience both in Congress and as Governor of Ohio. He has proven he can work with Democrats and not play “all or nothing”. NC Governor Pat McCrory would be a nice choice for VP

If he can survive the howls of “RINO” from Glenn Beck, in all three polls looking at a Kasich vs Hillary race, Kasich wins. The TEA party is supported by 17% of Americans. Stomping your feet and calling people names doesn’t win elections.

Good analysis, Fred, but I doubt the convention would ever give the vote to Kasich. Worse case scenario, they draft Romney…then comes the revolt that Judge Jeannine talked about on her TV show last night (brilliant speech…she nailed it!)

  4. RebelSansClue says:

Glenn Beck also mentioned a revolt if the convention nominated someone other than 1 of the 4 candidates. I can’t believe the Republican establishment would be THAT stupid. But then again, I’ve been wrong before…

Did you set your clocks ahead one hour ?

Speaking of dumb-asses, old Danny DeVito endorsed and introduced the ‘Super Commie’ Bern at a St Louis rally today. Dork, he made his millions and checked out. I bet he doesn’t have to live next to the regular ‘Feel the Bern/MoveOn.org’ supporter.
Hell I wouldn’t want to either!
But thats no reason to stick us with ‘Bern’ . If I made a (beep-pot) full of money, I would check out too. But I wouldn’t crap on everyone on my way out.
(Beep-ing) liberal hypocrite devito. I liked watching Taxi on ME TV every now and then. He has to go and ruin it.
