With his devastating loss in New York, it is now mathematically impossible for Ted Cruz to win on the first ballot. It was an extremely improbable outcome even if you’re an optimist. As I’m headed to dream land, the 95 delegates went 89 to Trump, 3 to Kasich and 3 still undecided.
So we are down to two possible outcomes (barring something unexpected) – either Trump will win the nomination on the first ballot, or Republicans will have a very messy convention.
While Rubio, Carson and Kasich could officially release their delegates, they can’t steer their delegates to vote for Cruz. If Trump can get Pennsylvania’s unbound delegates on his side, he wins.
Polls are a bit thin for the late primaries, but Cruz is unlikely to do well in NJ, CT, DE, RI, MD and WV.
The RNC rules committee is meeting Wednesday to Friday of this week to decide what to do. The drums of war are beating loudly. It would take a brazen robbery now to stop Trump. Either the RNC can lean back and enjoy being reamed and work for unity, or detonate mutually assured destruction. Hillary is cackling in the wings either way.
Maryland is not fully “winner take all”, so Trump’s numbers back off a little. The NY Times has given Trump the statewide delegates in Missouri – Unknown if that means Cruz decided not to ask for a recount.
“When you want to take a girl to the prom, you don’t tell her the week before that she’s ugly,” said Henry Barbour, an RNC member from Mississippi who is neutral in the primary race.
Mr Barbour has gender identity issues.
If the name sounds familiar, he is the nephew of Haley Barbour. Incest is a Southern thang. Trump got 47% of the vote in Mississippi
A little clarification – it turns out the Republican Party has three rules committees. There is a permanent Standing rules committee that handles things between elections – one member per state. That is the group meeting this week. While they can propose changes to the convention, they can’t actually change them.
The second Rules committee is the Convention Committee on rules – 2 people from each state that meet the week prior to the convention (after all the delegates are selected and locked in).
Then the convention as a whole gets their chance to veto the rules and propose changes. This is where it is important if the House Rules are used or Robert’s rules of order. If Paul Ryan’s rules are in effect, debate and amendments will be close to impossible to do with 2,500 people in a stadium. Ryan is the decider.

The Republicans lost the 2012 due to stupidity, by choosing Romney as the designated loser. They will be losing this one, on purpose. The establishment does not want to lose their power. They are solidly entrenched in their tit and no one is going to pull them out.
I came from a trip to the future last night, and Hillary was the President with Michelle waiting in the wings for 2024 and grooming Chelsea for 2032. We are circling the drain pretty fast now. I am just happy I will not live through this mess, but I am scared for my children and my grandchildren.
Turn off the lights, the party is over.
Let me be the first to suggest Sheila Jackson as Hillary’s running mate. She thinks Neil Armstrong planted the American Flag on Mars and knows how to run the American economy better than anyone in corporate America.
Which denomination of currency will she be on?
Is she the one that thought Guam would tip over and capsize into the Pacific Ocean? I look forward to the new series of bills with “in Allah we trust” printed on them. It will make travel in Saudi Arabia so much more respectful of the people who created civilization.
The rules committee at the RNC spring meeting decided to leave things as is.

This story indicates that with Paul Ryan running the Convention, a simple majority of the convention could reopen nominations to add someone else to grab the nomination
