D Day is here

Next Monday, the RNC rules committee meets to decide what, if any, changes they want to make to the convention that starts a week from Monday in Cleveland.

Donald Trump met today with 41 Republican Senators to discuss the campaign.

The meeting quickly broke into a shouting match, with Trump threatening Republican Senators, including threatening a Senator with opposing his reelection – but the Senator is not up for reelection. The few friendly faces in the room gave up.

This leaves the RNC with no option but to throw Trump overboard and deal with the consequences. Undoubtedly, Trump will try to intervene with lawyers.

Trump has no chance to win. In the unlikely event he did win, he has poisoned the well in the US Senate. Look for impeachment to start the moment he is sworn in. He will have no allies and no chance of doing anything he wants.

How will Republicans get rid of Trump and not alienate his supporters and lose control of Congress? I don’t see a way. Hillary could shoot police in Dallas on live TV and not lose a single vote.

Ted Cruz was the only hope the GOP ever had! I know him and he is great! Would have made a great President!!!

    More details about this week

Monday and Tuesday are “platform” days. Trump doesn’t care what the platform says. Wednesday and Thursday are the meetings on rules

Cleveland.com (Cleveland Plain Dealer) has only a few details about the platform. They asked the United Church of Christ (UCC) and Unitarian church leaders for comment.

Other newspapers are obsessed with Log Cabin Republicans and LGBTQW issues.

What they are actually discussing is turning over control of federal lands to the states

A ton of polls on Wednesday. Quinnipiac is the pollster I trust the most based on their experience, methodology and lack of motivation to skew results for political reasons.

Everyone (except Rasmussen) shows Hillary with +3 to +5 national lead over Trump – but Trump is solidly in the lead in Florida and Pennsylvania and tied in Ohio

It’s pretty stunning how with all the sniping from the media and the ambivalence to outright opposition by Republicans that none of it makes any difference on Trump’s popularity. Trump could eat an indicted ham sandwich for lunch on the public square in downtown Cleveland and not make a difference

The rules committee has adjourned because of a paper jam in a printer. If you believe that, I have some Cumulus Media stock for sale.

The rules committee has been warned to be prepared to spend the weekend in meetings

Pence it is. He has great hair and long fingers.
