Here is the complete text of Huey Long’s speech to the nation in the 1934 broadcast nationwide on the NBC radio network.

As you read it, see how much it shares with the speeches of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders. The written word doesn’t capture the emotion, though. Huey Long decided to challenge FDR for President in 1936, but didn’t live long enough to see his dream come true. His paranoia ended up killing him. After being shot, he demanded his own doctors treat him. By the time they arrived, his gunshot had become fatal.

When Reagan was shot, he said to his surgeons in the operating room, “I hope you are all Republicans.” The doctors and nurses laughed, and Giordano, a liberal Democrat, replied, “Today, Mr. President, we are all Republicans”

  1. Mark Levin played a recording of ABC News’ coverage of the Reagan assassination attempt tonight. It was fascinating to hear anchor Frank Reynolds freak out on air when he was told that contrary to what he’d been saying initially and repeatedly, the president was actually injured.
