With as little as I know about firearm safety, I know one of the key points is to always be aware of what is behind the thing you are shooting at. The first video shows about 15 shots being fired at the fleeing car – where the police car in the second video is in the direct line of fire. The miracle here is that the police didn’t end up shooting each other.

Firing at a fleeing car is outside of policy. Perhaps because of the police firing at each other, they believed the guy was armed with a gun.

Amazing stuff. We train the Police like we train soldiers – to kill. Then we are stunned when the Police shoot to kill. These incidents are definitely outside of any policy. Friendly fire escalating an incident – we had that here in Cleveland a couple years back. Two dead – no weapons.

It had gotten better. In decades past, they would get a drunk driver into a high speed chase and the drunk would run over pedestrians or run into cross traffic at a red light killing people.

Not saying to let the drunk go free, but get the license plate and follow at a distance so that innocent kids playing don’t get killed. A high speed chase makes sense to stop someone that was involved in a mass killing but not to stop someone that was speeding.

That happened in Charlotte in pre-history (before the Internet)… The police decided to chase someone just because he wouldn’t stop. The result was a dead VP of North Carolina National Bank and his wife.

I go back and forth on whether police should have the ability to remotely cut the power to a car. One of the issues is making the ability something that Joe Mugger can’t exploit as well
