Tim Kaine kidnapped by Hillary?

Politico and The Hill are running stories that VP nominee Tim Kaine feels like he has been kidnapped by the Clinton campaign, which of course is bouncing around the Right Wing echosphere this morning.

The remark was made in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For those not familiar with Michigan, Grand Rapids is the epicenter of Republican Politics. Gerald Ford was from Grand Rapids. The two big businesses in town are Amway and furniture making. Grand Rapids came to prominence after the Chicago Fire burned down the city, and pretty much the entire lower peninsula was clear cut of its trees to rebuild Chicago. The city is at the end of a road that starts in Detroit called Grand River Boulevard. Grand Rapids is on the Grand River at the point where the 200 foot high glaciers that used to cover Michigan stopped receding and dumped all their soil in an otherwise very flat state. Over on the East Side, the Palace of Auburn Hills sits on a similar hill.

Grand Rapids is run by Dutch families – politically, socially and in business. Holland, Michigan is a short distance away. People in the area quickly realize that the Dutch don’t like and don’t trust people not in the Dutch Reformed Church. Very few blacks live in Grand Rapids.

The other hot spot of Republican power in Michigan is the community of non-Muslim Arabs that live in and around Dearborn, SouthWest of Detroit. Henry Ford aggressively pushed to increase immigration from Lebanon and Syria to get more malleable workers for his car factories than the poorly educated, unmotivated people in the Southern US.

The first thing you can’t miss is the three women behind him in head scarves. That isn’t an accident. There is only one dark skinned black person on the stage and she is not in the camera shot except when they pull out to show the whole crowd.

Contrary to the impression you might get from the articles, Hillary Clinton was not there. Tim Kaine was working solo. The Clinton Campaign is a well oiled machine. What he probably meant is that he has gone from being the Senator from Virginia, to now being a slave – told what to wear, where to go, what to say, what to eat and when he can have sex with his wife.
