Denial is not just a river in Egypt
The essence of his argument is that 43% of Republicans don’t believe in evolution, therefore all are unqualified to be professors. He is in charge of recruiting at UNC’s medical school.
Things to consider:
– the filtering out of Conservatives starts long before people get their PhD and want a job as a professor
– many professors are not teaching science and their beliefs about science are irrelevant
– the population of what all Republicans believe does not indicate what any one individual believes. That is the classic definition of prejudice
– 42% of all Americans are creationists, so just as many Democrats don’t believe in science
I don’t think I believe in Democrats. That makes me a “Realist”.
