Who exactly elected the NTSB?
Actually, since what a cell phone is keeps changing, this is going to be very hard to craft. As the story points out, the NTSB started out by inflating statistics by requiring that every accident in which a cell phone was present must have been caused in part by the phone – now that most drivers have a cell phone in the car, that distortion becomes too obvious to continue.
The NTSB wants to force states to pass laws, using the threat of loss of funding to states that refuse to bow to their will.
What does “use” of an electronic device mean? If my cell phone is streaming a radio show, am I using the cell phone? What if I change the station stopped at a traffic light? What if I do that by voice command? How is that different than changing the station on a car radio? What if by entertainment system has VoIP apps?
My comment on the FCC and loud commercials applies here as well.
When in the Hell is the government going to STOP ? I agree that the states should enforce the laws governing cell phone use while driving, (god knows every teenager and woman ) would well increase the local city and countys funds from paying fines.
But now the FED’s want in on the action to enforce a law that you can’t even use a blutooth as well ? Also, the FCC might as well enforce a law about truckers using the CB as well , while driving “their” trucks on” federal funded” highways. STOP already GET OUT of OUR FREAKING Lives … When are these Asses in Washington going to understand We pay our taxes,,They Work for US ,and WE are the Government ? Leave the indivual States to mandate and enforce their own laws, Damn this Federal Government !!!!
