The return of Bruce Williams got me thinking about other things being done on radio that have a small probability of success.
A few years ago, TV’s Roseanne Barr joined the long list of people who think being a TV star makes you equipped to do Radio. Back in the “Good Old Days”, the same thought process was tried with Broadway Theater and TV. Broadway actors can do a pretty good job on TV soap operas, but take teleprompter reading TV actor who only has to remember 2 lines for 30 seconds and put them on a stage where they have to memorize 200 pages of dialogue word for word and you find out just how different the two skills are.
Sally Jesse Raphael who started in radio and went to TV and then returned to radio was a total washout when she tried to do a political show.
So wondered if she is still at it – Roseanne Barr looks nothing like you remember from TV, but that doesn’t matter on radio 🙂 She has a male “friend” named Johnny for about 10 years and they now live on a nut farm in Hawaii.
It appears Raseanne still has a show on KCAA-AM in California, Sundays from 10 AM-1 PM (Pacific). KCAA is mostly what is called a brokered station. You give the station cash, they give you control of the station for an hour (within limits of what the FCC allows you to do). They care not a thing about ratings, just that the show’s checks don’t bounce. Alex Jones is a major personality on that station.
Looking at her web site, Roseanne is running for President as well as Prime Minster of Israel. She announced that the Mayan calendar declared the end of Patriarchy in 2011, and women are now in charge of the world and she is the founder of a new Temple.
As a woman of Jewish ancestory who was raised as a Mormon, she probably will have some interesting observations between now and November.
