WDTW is an AM radio station in suburban Detroit (Dearborn).
It is owned by Clear Channel and currently carries the so-called “Progressive” talk format – only recently did it add back a local morning show.
Being Year End, Clear Channel apparently has concluded there is no hope for the station and “donating” it to the Minority Media and Telecommunications Council for a tax writeoff is better than anything else they could do – and it earns them brownie points at the FCC. In the similar stations I’m aware of, the station equipment needed massive repairs that no rational person would do – when the MMTC gets the station to “promote diversity”, they’ve turned around an “flipped” the license and sold the license (but not the station) to someone else. Sometimes a station tower is built on an old industrial site with “issues” about past misuse of the land that would be extremely expensive to clean up.
So kiss one more “progressive” AM station goodbye. In theory, the MMTC might continue to operate it – but I doubt it.
Well the MMTC is missing out on a great opportunity to bring some great programming to the Greater Detroit area. They could do a follow-up interview with Harry Belafonte who just called for POTUS to “work like a 3rd world dictator and just put all these guys (opposition) in jail.” Belafonte’s tirade is probably due to the disconcerting news that his friend, Hugo Chavez (a quasi-3rd world dictator) has returned to Cuba (where a true 3rd world dictator rules) for more medical treatments now that his ongoing battle with cancer reared its ugly head once again.
In other news: John McAfee was repatriated to America on 12-12-12 after being deported by Guatemala for illegally entering the country in a bid to seek political asylum from authorities in Belize who were searching for McAfee for questioning after his neighbor, Greg Faull was found murdered on 11-10-12 by a kill-shot to the head. McAfee maintains the poisoning death of his dogs and the murder of his neighbor just hours later, who had complained about his dogs, was a coincidence.
Now that’s an amazing coincidence!
You mean we Americans can’t just kill people in other countries any more if we want to?
As you may remember, McAfee claims while living in Belize he was targeted for assassination in the past. He thwarted those attempts by hiring the thugs sent to kill him to be his own personal protection against those who hired the thugs in the first place. A clever move on McAfee’s part to base their future ‘wages’ on his ability to continue making periodic payments to those thugs. So, he has some experience in the game, and could be telling the truth when he claims he did not kill his neighbor. Of course anyone with an ounce of common sense can through his obfuscated claims.
But, to answer your question allow me, with your indulgence, to point out the POTUS has authorized the murder of others who live on Earth, even if they were Americans, or even the citizens of Saudi Arabia, as the POTUS is fond of reminding us common folk. Perfectly legal of course according to laws passed by the US Congress, and according to NDAA legislation passed in December 2011, as well as Presidential Directives and other legislation that can be used to justify the assassinations of Americans and/or others deemed to be ‘terrorists’, all according to the dictates of the POTUS.
We would all become more wise if we studied the machinations of the ‘Merchants of Venice’.

Given it is Dearborn, it’s extremely probable once the title has been washed that the station will end up broadcasting in Arabic.
Well, that’s quite the albatross – the station is 5,000 watts and needs 6 (!) towers – it also has 18 augmentations, which generally means a network of very valuable buried copper cables.
But the land is extremely valuable – it is located next to I-94 (which runs from Detroit to Chicago) at the exit for Telegraph Road, probably the most important North/South surface street in Metro Detroit. The area is already filled with warehouses and trucking distribution centers – and convenient to Ford and access to Canada.
By transferring the license, the station can now be off a year without losing the license – and at least in the past, the FCC has looked the other way when the MMTC made no effort to build a station within the year. You can’t really expect those minority folks to follow rules, know what I mean?
