If you’re looking for the new CBS Sports Radio Network, don’t turn on your local CBS Sports station 😉
CBS has made a lot of money running 24 he/day all local sports talk in major sports markets. They are not changing that, at least not yet.
So where is the most likely place to find Jim Rome and Doug Gottlieb? Check your local Cumulus sports station.
CBS must believe that its core local sports talk listeners in Philadelphia have made the move to their FM side because they are running network programming on longtime sports outlet WIP-AM. Not enough time has elapsed to allow that to happen in New York but that might be the eventual goal.
Same is true in Detroit – WXYT-AM is running the CBS Sports Radio Network, WXYT-FM is running local sports
I didn’t think this would have any effect on me, but it took over Kydz Radio 1140 Las Vegas, one of the stations I had programmed into my kid’s Logitech Squeezebox Radio for my kid.
The format seemed local as I could not find any other station with the same stream. It was similar to Radio Disney- basically top hits with with an eye toward the idea that most parents don’t want their pre-teens asking them about ‘ho’s and other lyrics not appropriate for all ages.
FWIW- I have replaced that preset with “Kids CBC” from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and added WAPS 91.3 HD3 KidJam! Radio Akron, OH – Both of them are commercial free!
