My inbox today had an article from the Weekly Standard by Johnathon V. Last about the misconception, particularly among conservatives, that business hates government interference in the Free Market.
He suggests the reason Wal-Mart suddenly showed up at the White House summit on guns was not that they were threatened, but the White House pointed out that Wal-Mart would benefit from tighter rules on the private sale of guns – forcing people who want to buy a gun to go to a store (like Wal-Mart) and buy a new gun.
Mr Last primarily writes about dropping fertility rates – that half of all adult women are not married and a large portion of them have made a decision to never have children.
The American culture has actively been steering young people in this direction. After WW II, it was widely understood that an important aspect of college life was one on one dating as young men and women paired up to get married after graduation and start a family.
College now begins with a freshman orientation where students sit in a circle and are required to say “I am gay” to try the idea on and see how it feels. Social activities are focused on being members of a group group rather than couples. Universities are aggressively over recruiting women and excluding males. Very little of education (formal or informal) is teaching young people how to be successful spouses and parents. Financial demands for government subsidies of seniors draw away a larger and larger portion of the earnings of young people that used to be spent on buying a house and raising children.
It takes decades for declining birth rates to show their effects – in the beginning life is great as childless singles have excess income – he specifically mentions that single never married males will voluntarily withdraw from the work force (which exactly describes me) – but the “end game” of this social structure can be seen in Japan where the countryside is depopulating and is mostly people 70+ years old and the few young single people still being raised end up in the cities, which are not generally a place conducive to raising children.
So what’s the answer? More religion? Government subsidy? Or are humans the problem and depopulation is a good thing?
yah, dee-populations is a goot zing – if you are dee-populating zee right peepole ……
We all would like to know the Answer? Perhaps the Answer will only lead us to ask more questions. IMO, the situation, or problem Americans find themselves in today have been brewing for decades, as noted in the article you linked to above. The Answer is to reverse all of the trends that brought us to this point, but it would take decades to reverse those trends. It would mean an internal struggle by the productive citizens to regain CONTROL of the nation would be necessary. The proverbial ‘brick wall’ is looming, no doubt about that. Time is running out and something big is coming. I agree, partly with Savage that it will ‘nazi-like’.
Are we beyond the Point of No Return? For the past 4 years I thought it would occur on, or around, Spring Equinox 2013 (Gregorian calendar reckoning). I could be wrong. I hope it is further down the road.
An uncommon astrological event will occur in 2014-2015 known as a Tetrad, or Blood Moon. According to NASA: “When four consecutive lunar eclipses are all TOTAL eclipses, the group is known as a Tetrad. The following Tetrads occur during this century:
1. Tetrad: 2003 – 2004
2. Tetrad: 2014 – 2015
3. Tetrad: 2032 – 2033
4. Tetrad: 2043 – 2044
5. Tetrad: 2050 – 2051
6. Tetrad: 2061 – 2062
7. Tetrad: 2072 – 2073
8. Tetrad: 2090 – 2091”
Tetrads are not that common. In other words, to have 8 Tetrads occur in the centuries 2001 to 2100 is a rarity. Only 13 Tetrads have occurred in the last 500 years. The last 3 occurred in the years 1949-1950, and 1967-1968, and 2003-2004. My research into the subject of Tetrads indicate it is rife with mis-direction, a.k.a. the Great Delusion. I think research into Tetrads, a.k.a. Blood Moons is important and is partly based on the fact that 20 Tetrads will be compressed into the centuries 1949-2001.
Food for thought: take time to view a 3 minute video produced by Wayne Herschel that shows a complex series of monuments on the planet Mars have a very, very close alignment to the Pleiades and other nearby celestial objects.

The answer is Islam wins.
Islam’s goal for world domination does face determined opposition capable of starting something big.
The US military recognized a long time ago that declining birth rates meant in the event of a replay of WW II, there won’t be a large supply of cannon fodder, even with conscription. Once they recognized that, you saw the approach change to replacing humans with expensive technology. That worked pretty well in Kuwait and Iraq, not so well in Afghanistan.
The asymmetrical response is you try to destroy America using very inexpensive weapons and give up humans. 20 men with box cutters and a willingness to die caused a trillion dollars in economic damage to the west and has undermined our own freedom and sense of security.
Iran and Iraq were willing to blow up land mines using their children taking a million deaths. This is not a 5 year battle – it’s a slow motion evolution. Demographic change takes generations to play out.
After the Moors settled in Spain and established a rich culture tolerant of outsiders because of their desire to grow their economy, Germanic folks with their Christian religion moved south slowly, outbreeding the Moors over a couple hundred years, ultimately ending their last foothold on the Iberian peninsula in 1492.
Americans have trouble looking beyond March Madness. China and Islam have a much longer vision of the future.
True, the passing of the torch is going to be ugly.
