Dial Global gets 6 more weeks

The banks who control Dial Global’s future have made enough progress in convincing the management about how Dial Global must change that the lenders have put up another $5 million to fund the company for another 6 weeks. The implication is that February 28th, the paperwork will be ready to “restructure” the company. These days, that tends to not mean bankruptcy (since a judge might overrule the plan agreed to), but rather a negotiated settlement between the business and the lenders.

I suspect the sports and talk products might be split off to different fates, but that’s only a guess.

  1. Not related (as far as I know), Tim Brando of CBS Sports announced earlier this week that Friday would be the last day on Yahoo Sports Radio for his radio show. He said a new radio partner would be announced the same day. The show is also carried on the CBS Sports Network cable channel. To the best of my knowledge, it is the only national TV or radio show which broadcasts from Shreveport, La.

Radio insight says his new show starts Feb 4th from 9am to noon. CBS seems unlikely given his opinion of Cumulus. It’s too early to be NBC Sports which won’t go 24/7 until April. Maybe TRN will start a sports network – why not?
