Resistance is futile

As much as the iPad has changed the world, it is about to change again x 10

Many questions flow from technology running way ahead of the law. Will it be legal to drive a car while wearing these?

One thing I see positive right away – the instinct of police wanting to grab cameras and arrest people for filming them just imploded. The video is being archived in real time as it is recorded. Grabbing the Glass and smashing it won’t destroy the video. Another person would have no idea if you’re recording what they’re doing.

And this is just the first version. The brain implant can’t be far behind. We are Borg. Retweet that.

So if you can watch TV with both hands free while walking down the street, why would you ever listen to radio?

Will there be a Luddite style backlash? I don’t think the evidence suggests so, but, is there a tipping point? The privacy advocates who decried London’s cam overkill are now silent or ignored.

I will probably drop the cell phone this year – moving towards the hermitic. There was a story of a ‘brave’ young family in Berlin who exist with no visible income for 3 years now – on Yahoo ‘News’. This is the ultimate socialist existence, the vast majority working and providing all of the first world comforts and accoutrements while these new noble savages defy the pedestrian and become psudo-martyrs for the great smiley-face-nice-fascisim wrapped in socialist fairness. Yes We Can.

One commenter makes a really important point – the glasses have uses beyond recording you having sex…

I’m working at a distribution company where people are pulling cases of product from a shelf and loading them onto pallets to be put on a truck. With Google Glasses, you don’t need anything in your hands to do that work – just look at the bar code to signal “yes, I put this case on the truck”. The current method relies entirely on voice recognition – while it works, it is pretty clunky, especially if it is noisy.

This version relies on Bluetooth connecting through your cell phone to talk to the world. I would think in a later version it might have direct 4G access, then it is Katey bar the door.

Imagine how this will improve the lives of snitches – go into the bar, record the bartender putting money in his pocket, underage patrons, staying open too late, serving someone who is drunk, etc….

Sure. The goggles become the time clock. Work begins when you put them on and stops when you take them off.

Good idea to take them off during bathroom breaks. 😉 I still remember the time I walked into a quiet restroom back in the 90s and was suddenly startled by an extremely loud “push to talk” Nextel conversation that suddenly began.

Oh, I thought the punch line was going to involve someone tapping on the partition

I wasn’t on a Congressional tour. 😉 I was at work. I walked into what I thought was an empty room. Totally quiet. I was standing at a urinal and suddenly there was a loud voice a few feet behind me. It startled me. I nearly had to buy a new pair of shoes! 😉

Over 40 or wear glasses, (most people over 40 wear glasses, btw), you’re F’ed:

    “Glasshole

A person who constantly talks to their Google Glass, ignoring the outside world.

Message to government: You put down the cameras first

It was stunning when Pope Francis made his debut – every single person in the crowd had a cell phone pointed at him – a veritable sea of cameras. Privacy is dead (except in an abortion clinic)

I almost never ride trains, but recently rode one from NJ to NYC during rush hour in the morning. I had done that a few times before – the last time was about 10 years ago.

10 years ago, most people were trying to catch a short nap. Many were reading the morning newspapers, and a small group would be working on a laptop.

This year, all the laptops and newspapers were totally gone. I didn’t see one of either and I walked through many cars.

What was there instead were smart phones everywhere, and a few tablets here and there.

Go to youtube and it is full of videos of music concerts taken by fans holding up cell phones.

Carrie had the mistaken impression that New Mexico was part of the United States.

I thought this contest was for software developers who are going to create clever ways to make Google Glass do useful things, not people wanting to wear them to make YouTube videos

        Glassholes too!

“The company’s terms of service on the limited-edition wearable computer specifically states, “you may not resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person. If you resell, loan, transfer, or give your device to any other person without Google’s authorization, Google reserves the right to deactivate the device, and neither you nor the unauthorized person using the device will be entitled to any refund, product support, or product warranty.”

I watched a video of the guy from Google talking about the device and APIs at SXSW.

It was very clear this device is in no way “open”. Google will be controlling the horizontal and vertical. Everything you’re doing with the device will be going through the NSA Google servers. That’s a deal breaker for me. Google is turning into Apple.

Your electric company regularly hands over your electric usage information to the government so that they can compare it to your neighbor’s usage and your usage in previous years to see if they want to toss a stun grenade into your place in the middle of the night, and break down your door looking for grow lights in your attic or basement. (They typically use IR camera and get a judge’s order in between those steps.)

Imagine all the new jobs mayor mikey can create to have his employees watch your google videos scanning for your drinks while he watches on CNN from his home in Bermuda.
