Hostess is History

http://mobile.bloomberg.com/news/2013-03-19/hostess-judge-approves-asset-sales-of-over-800-million.html

The bankruptcy judge approved the sales – there were no last minute surprises:

The Pabst Beer people get the Hostess snack food brands (twinkies, hohos…)

Grupo Bimbo gets the Beefsteak Bread brands

Little Debbie’s gets the Drake snack brand

Flowers gets most of the other bread brands, including Wonder bread, Butternut, Home Pride, Merita, Nature’s Pride…

United States Bakery got some small regional brands – Sweetheart, Eddy’s, Standish Farms and Grandma Emilie’s… they’re located in Portland Oregon

The bankruptcy judge made it pretty clear the buyers are under no obligation to negotiate with the labor union that put Hostess out of business

Hmmmm….I like the way that judge ruled. “The buyers are under no obligation to negotiate with the labor unions.” Sweet!!!

    • That’s how a President Mitt Romney would have handled the managed bankruptcy of GM. We’d still have Chevy and Caddies and hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars but no UAW!

But there’s no difference between the two parties, right? That’s what I keep hearing.

      • Nidster says:

Yep! All low-low-info voters just repeat the Lie-of-the-Day, “there’s no difference between the two parties….there’s no difference between the two parties…there’s no difference between the two parties….”

It’s absolutely sickening. The union refused to take a pay cut to save the jobs of its own members, so everybody lost their jobs…even non-union employees. Frankly, I’m shocked that the President didn’t act on the union’s behalf. It’s totally his M.O.. So now, those jobs are given to people who aren’t necessarily in a union at all. Well done.

Ah, but he’s in a trap of his own making. Sugary snack foods are bad. It’s a good thing Hostess is gone. The union employees have been told they are eligible for all the government retraining benefits they could ever want.
