http://www.engadget.com/2013/06/05/microsoft-takes-down-botnets/
This story is interesting from a few directions – the claim is Bankers, Microsoft and the FBI have shut down 1000s of botnets being used to steal money by infecting computers with key loggers.
Botnets are very sophisticated groups of hijacked computers that use a distributed command and control system to cause the group of computers to do things – like flood a web site with traffic to extort money to “just make it stop!”. The connection between that and key loggers is a bit not obvious.
Botnets were designed to be untraceable using techniques that were not surprisingly developed first by government agencies to operate in secret in other countries. If you gather the IP addresses of the millions of computers activated in an attack, you only maybe peel back the first layer at great expense. The command and control is easily moved from computer to computer and the person actually controlling things (probably from Eastern Europe) has many layers of defenses, each set to warn the next layer if it has been compromised. All the combination is encrypted – that was the state of the art a decade ago – I have no idea what it is now. My main exposure was reading the story by the shields up guy and how he infiltrated a botnet.
So what could Microsoft do to Windows to facilitate real time data gather that could be directly fed to the FBI to take out a botnet before it vanishes? While Microsoft controls Windows (and who really knows what are in their updates?), the infrastructure of botnets typically relies on IRC, which is *nix based.
Oh, and the Guardian reports that FISA ordered Verizon to give up call detail records on all of its business customers, including domestic phone calls. This is basically what AT&T has already done and provided immunity.
You see, when the 4th amendment says to be secure from search of your records, people might think their phone and bank records belong to the customer. Silly Wabbit!
More public private partnerships here- phone companies, ISPs, etc:

Al Qaida has achieved its objective.
Maybe they will like us now? They didn’t like us because of our Freedom, President Bush told us.
Of course, one theory is that they and us are the same people.
Or, we are being controlled by some “class” of people (if one can use that sort of euphemism to describe them) whose diabolical intent is to subject humanity to their insane Plan to be the dominate entities. They, defined as those who are against humanity, believe in their ‘right’ to rule over humanity and who assert they descend from very old, ancient families.
Much of what we witness happening all around us is being perpetrated by people in their employee. People who are making a huge mistake of believing they are ‘chosen’ and who, in the end, will be in charge, in control of the system. Experience tells me they will purged once the Plan is put into affect.
You are correct. Once the transition is complete, the people who made it happen are the first people put in front of the firing squads as they are the most likely to launch the counterrevolution. Mao and Stalin are the most obvious examples
Remember the Stasi? Social networks were harder to monitor then than now:

I particularly enjoy the quote from Google that they disclose data “in accordance with the law” – that’s very different than “only when required by the law”. If there is not an explicit law prohibiting disclosure, then they can disclose anything and be “in accordance with the law” – but even there we have secret laws that few people know exist and they would be breaking the law if they disclosed it.
As someone said earlier, the people who run the government pretend to let the elected people think they have a say in the process. With no budget for the last 4 years and spending on autopilot, even the power of the purse has slipped out of Congress.
Good observations. Whenever the vote comes down to actually passing a budget or another ‘continuing spending resolution’ we understand what will happen. There is a hidden budget, monies are going towards secret projects.
We have a Breakaway Civilization emerging and unfolding before us that is now almost in plain view.
When will people stop voting for the two political parties that did this to us and finally replace them? They are two sides of the same coin.
Quick and dirty answer? Never, or at the least not anytime soon. Sure, Romney would have been different than what we got the last time, but in the end ‘they’ are running a serious ‘Shell’ game and the ‘hicks’ and ‘progressives’ keep falling-in-to-line’ every election cycle.
My thought was that Romney was the one ‘They’ wanted in power in order to ‘lead’ the sheep out of the financial collapse that is coming, but it was not to be, yet. We are in for some very serious, very serious, SHTF event in the future.
Washington post is back pedaling a little bit, but really it is just deliberate obfuscation – the type that Bill Clinton enjoys
Here is the Facebook response:
“We do not provide any government organization with direct access to Facebook servers”
So there are at least three possible dodges in that statement
– they provide access via a non-governmental organization which is a middleman
– the access is not “direct” – that’s mostly the path the Post follows – that there are servers inside of Facebook that allow indirect access – in fact that is pretty much what one of these laws mandated
– the access is not to Facebook’s ‘”servers” – CISCO routers have the ability to strip off and make a copy of a stream and forward it to another destination – access could also be provided by backups or real time data replication
None of this is shocking when you remember that DARPA was the folks who started all of this
In the Bush Admin. didn’t it come to light that the UK was scooping up our info and we were scooping up UK info then just trading it to appear to avoid laws. I was looking at TX or New ‘free-state-project’ Hampshire but geography doesn’t matter anymore. The government is a Mafia and the cosmetics are coming off. That’s why the IRS scum giving testimony are so flippant – we can’t run, we can’t hide – time to face ’em.
I just read an item from Forbes written by someone who was raised in the .uk who doesn’t understand the fuss.
Actually, it did come to light in the Bush Administration and Bush was re-elected after it came to light.
I don’t agree with Vice President Gore on very much, but he is absolutely right to be upset about the domestic spying.
No need to give the Al Gore much credit for being upset, he was mostly upset that he was not in charge or in power. Much like the current POTUS formerly paraded around vociferously decrying all the things he is now doing, and doing more of it than Bush.
What needs to happen, in order to put a stop to their Plan, is to get the sycophant, so-called free news media, to wake up and understand they will no longer be needed once the police state is firmly installed.
Need to hold both parties accountable:
http://www.lp.org/news/press-releases/government-phone-internet-snooping
Right, just pointing out the ugly hypocritical nature of some of the scum suckers when they are not in power, such as the Al Gore and da ObamaNation. So, why do the sycophants give a pass to the 2 named above and are never called to account for their hypocrisy, yet if a Rand Paul filibusters a bill in the senate even his own party members shoot derogatory comments at him? Double Standards abound.
Point is, the sycophants know exactly what is going down, but they believe they will be exempt from harm when SHTF. They will not. One of the main tenets of the class of people that engineer these type of takeovers is to eliminate the very people that helped carry their water once it is “Mission Accomplished”.
