Phil Hendrie winding down on TRN

June 25th is the last day – I found this uncomfortable “news” story

http://rbr.com/trn-pulling-the-phil-hendrie-show/

Not the story itself, but the comments. At least two of the posters are names of Phil’s “guests”. Is it Phil having phun, phans who are playing along or radio people asserting their “power” over Phil.

I tend to think it is the 3rd – having government monopolies to control access to information tends to create unpleasant people.

Maybe, a second tier company (TRN) used a second tier talent (by the numbers not talent) to run their numbers up and re-inflate the father’s Advice Line. The meditative resort in Oregon might not be pulling in the dough-rey-mi so ‘ol Roy Boy is going back into the radio biz full steam.

Phil probably lacks a mentor or mentor figure in his life (not making a joke) but would he listen?

I’ve wondered if Masters pushed the “talent” to listen to the FHU stuff. Hendrie did one of the ads for that, trying very hard hide his identity, but it was obviously him.

Masters has to buy time for his show. If he was cutting deals like “you can have Savage if you carry Roy Masters Overnight”, they’ve lost that clout. Hendrie has publicly repudiated the claim that TRN suing Dial Global was something he had signed on to.

For those who don’t stay up late enough to hear Roy Masters, he started a new spinoff show on Sunday nights called Finding God Through Physics, with interesting theories like that we don’t fly off the spinning earth because of gravity, but rather we are held to the ground because of the vacuum of empty space

Booby Dooley used to babysit my hamsters.

Actually it was Nipsey Russell, back when I worked as a production assistant on MATCH GAME ’72.

What happened to the great game shows? Seriously, those were so much fun, even when Convy took over PASSWORD it was a blast. Hell, I only knew some people were famous when I was a kid because I saw them on MATCH GAME. Fannie Flagg?

Brett Sommers – If you get a chance to see Charles Nelson Riley’s one man show on Netflix its worth the watch. He was tragic-funny and funny-funny. Good Man.
