Overnight, Russia detected missile launches headed toward Syria.
There was confirmation this was a “joint US / Israeli exercise” to test Israel’s anti-missile defenses.
The stars are aligning.

Are the stars and moon are aligned “just right”? It is certainly true that is it easier to place yourself in harms way by shooting off your mouth and missiles, but awfully difficult to extricate yourself from the quagmire.
The fourth photo is dedicated to you, Nidster. 😉

There are headlines today that some unnamed Arabs are willing to pay the costs of this military adventure to overthrow the “dictator”. Probably the unelected Saudi Royal Family in between cutting off the heads of women who allowed themselves to be raped.

This is why I oppose the concept of military conscription. If the people perceive a real threat like Pearl Harbor or 9/11, people will rush forward to volunteer and cough up funding.
Other than the frenzy whipped up by Fox, there wasn’t an obvious danger to the United States and no groundswell for Gulf War II
If we’re going to give up all principles and offer our military to the highest bidder, let’s cut a deal with some “rebel” group to overthrow the Saudi dictators in exchange for low cost oil for the next 50 years. As a side benefit, we can bulldoze the holy sites and liberate the people praying 5 times a day at a meteorite fragment.
Read “Keep Your Eye on the Target” and remember that it was written and delivered almost 12 years ago in November 2001, at the height of the Fox News Nonsense.
Today, it reads like the history of the 12 years that have transpired since the speech was written. I make a point of re-reading it every 9-11 – it is worth your time:

Hey, stop bringing up Chappaquiddick!
“Bashar al-Assad now joins the list of Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein have used these weapons in time of war,” Kerry said.
