Children gaming goes Retro

While their parents are getting addicted to Candy Crush Saga, the Kidz are flocking away from the first person antisocial shooting games breeding the future mass murderers, and instead winding up in a really unlikely place. It’s a game called Minecraft that uses 1980s era 8 bit graphics.

While Runescape has been creating a more and more complex game with high definition graphics with more emphasis on killing things, Minecraft is a game where you gather resources to make you and your friends safe from monsters, and then create a joint living area where you and your friends can build other things and hang out together.

So far, it has sold 28 million copies across the PC, XBox and iDevices (the iphone version costs $6.99)
