When do the actions of a country – under international law, the laws of war, or rational thought – justify another country launching a first strike?
The President and John Kerry have made it clear they plan to attack the government of Syria – a few cruise missiles has now grown to long range bombers, possibly 1000 cruise missiles and an occupation force to “secure” those WMDs. This puts Syria in the classic cold war “use it or lose it” scenario. Congress is going to apparently vote on attacking Syria this week or next.
At what point in the time line does our belligerent action justify Russia firing preemptively missiles at our ships, disrupting our communication satellites, knocking out the GPS system? Imploding the international banking system? Blowing up the Alaska pipeline?
Would President Obama ever surrender to the Russians?
Who gives a shit?
Press TV has conducted an interview with Lawrence Freeman, with Executive Intelligence Review from Baltimore, about the US aggression against Syria. It is well worth listening to this 23 minute interview because Lawrence Freeman makes a very valid argument with some historical details too.

So let’s war game this – let’s say the Russians launch an IL-76/A-50 over Syria and crank up the radar, have a few attack submarines using active sonar and pinging the US warships and submarines to send a message that “we’re ready and we will fire”.
Let’s say that happens and the US and Russia now have an active conflict. Russia cuts off natural gas to Europe, blocks the Suez Canal. Iran joins them, blocks the strait of Hormuz. If the US wipes out the Russian military (fairly probable) the Russians are left with surrender or launch the nukes.
What does China do?
China ups its bid for oil from Canada and Latin America (Mexico, Venezuela, Brazil) and steps onto the world stage as a leader trying to broker a peace deal.
If Russia and the US destroy each other, nobody to buy iPhines!
The Ruskies are not going to start anything foolish, and China need not do anything.
I Thought Reid had died?
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is delaying a Senate test vote to authorize the use of force against the Syrian regime.
Reid said Monday evening that he would not take a procedural step on the measure that would have officially begun the Senate’s debate, setting up a test vote on Wednesday. He added that he consulted with the president, fellow Democrats and the Republican leadership before slowing the timeline for votes.
