“Give me 15 minutes and I’ll give you America” ™

Michael Savage has arrived at the pinnacle of his career, landing in afternoon drive in the major cities on the east coast.

Savage will be googling the phrase of this blog to see who has “stolen” his stuff

I don’t listen to Weiner! He is all blow an no sincerity.

      That is “and no”…

His show today hasn’t significantly changed. It’s still all about Savage and his ego. Other than the news about Bob Grant, there was nothing new. I actually fell asleep partway through the show. A few contrived outrage sessions.

I could tell as he read the story about Bob Grant being the father of talk radio that Savage wanted to say that Savage is – but he reigned himself in,

WABC New York didn’t carry Savage for the 3rd hour. I was too busy to find another station. Was it canned or did he actually do a full 3 hour show?

          • Art Stone says:

            Don’t know – I fell asleep around 1:30 I think… I woke up about 2:58 and think I heard Savage say goodbye.

WMAL is not carrying the third hour

Because so many Cumulus stations cleared the decks to carry the show live, finding the show on delay will be tricky. Clear Channel is dropping Savage (no surprise) as the two big guys are now almost completely disengaged other than Cumulus carrying Rush other than on WABC.

Salem’s is undoubtedly in chaos – Curtis Sliwa was on WNYM-AM 5 hours a day. I wonder if Phil Boyce knew ahead of time. Normally you would expect a non-compete to kick in – maybe with Sliwa being in the news lately, they’re glad to let him go.

Putting Bennett on in the morning is a pretty obvious choice. Whether they want any local programming is probably a tough call. The cofounders of Salem seem to be looking for the exit door.

Tom Taylor confirms that WABC will be carrying only 2 hours of Savage. I would not want to be the person answering the phones. Savage just barely got into it – just wait until he goes after the Communist NYU loy-ers

On the other hand I love Savage, but don’t like his new time slot because I work in the day and subjected to reruns. We will see how his audience readjusts. The good news is no more Hannity, yay.

I like Savage at night when I can fall asleep to his blather. I’d rather listen to Sean Hannity.

  3. HPaws says:

Repetitive Schtick. Really dislike his choice in music. Kind of like Beck, if someone has listened to the show, why waste the time with TV or the book-production-mill. He is just not that original a thinker and I have a full day. If you have heard Savage’s take on _________________________, well, it done. After all doesn’t the angry, self-righteous, Old Testament, self styled psudo-Rabbi get the last woyd? Oy, enough, already.

  4. Landmark95 says:

Isn’t it ironic, that Savage has waited forever to claim the drive-time slot, only to see his third hour get chopped off, which is smack-dab in the middle of drive-time? Be careful what you ask for…you just might get it!

    • Art Stone says:

When the lawsuit was filed by TRN, Savage’s contract was filed with the lawsuit. It explicitly said what I and others had figured out – Savage was only contractually obligated to do two hours a day and TRN produced the third hour using repeated segments and fake “interviews” – on the days he even showed up for work – while patting himself on the back for his work ethic.

I didn’t listen to him enough at 11 PM to know if Cumulus gave him the same deal. He has seemed to be on better behavior and largely stopped sniping at other Conservative hosts.

The slogan of WINS-AM, the CBS owned all news station is “give us 22 minutes and we’ll give you the world”. Yet another parasite that stole an idea from Savage.

WINS was owned by Westinghouse prior to their merger with CBS during the merger frenzy of the 1990s which is part of why CBS still runs two independent all news AM stations (WCBS being the other)
