Savage almost gets it. It isn’t the Obama-bashing specifically that makes my eyelids close, it’s the lack of any focus or direction on what to do about it. Voting? – sure – every two years we should vote that bastards out. How about a new party? Let’s grow a party with a conscience and solutions. Let’s consider a party of candidates that will revamp that archaic old-boy network in DC and get back to doing the people’s business. Fiscal Cliff – stalemate – tactics of negotiation – lies – failure of principles – etc. what a load of crap.

The 2012 election seems to be one of two things – either Conservatives and/or Republicans are a shrinking point of view and close to non-existent on both coasts and in big cities (and what that means for the future) or the Democrats won by staggering voter fraud. There hasn’t been a peep out of the Republicans. It’s like they don’t care.

With that, If I were Boehner, I would announce that Republicans will oppose nothing for the next two years. Let the Senate write the budget, pass any laws it wants – Republicans will just vote Present. Let’s implement the full agenda Obama wants and find out if Jefferson was right.

That Savage is certainly ahead of the curve. That explains his loyal listeners and sponsors.

Talk radio may self-destruct, but there will always be an audience for the unvarnished truth. Read the news as it should be told and take phone calls that discuss the issues with sincerity and focus – that might work, I don’t know.

I listened to most of Savage’s WABC debut show. After making it as clear as he could that his show won’t be 24/7 “we hate Obama”, almost all the callers wanted to talk about Obama. This is not new. It irritates him a lot.

He did venture into the “is the world only 8000 years old? question” and then said he would explain how you can reconcile the Bible with the truth that the Earth IS billions of years old – but he didn’t follow through. Mr. Beck a day ago declared that if you even ask the question, you are a bigot and an evil person. My position on this is clear, and I won’t repeat it here.

At the end of the show, he did his outraged conservative act, with a “liberal” from Boston who wanted to discuss why Savage is so fond of Winston Churchill. Savage wouldn’t let him finish a sentence, created straw man arguments that the caller hadn’t made, and tried to “pivot” the caller to make him defend FDR rounding up Japanese and putting them in internment camps. If he had 30 more seconds, I’m sure he would have accused the caller of personally rounding up Jews and making them into lampshades in Hitler’s concentration camps.

And he wonders why only ignorant people call him.

    Take Rush and Hannity.

I can’t listen to Sean’s show not because I don’t agree with him but because of all the liberals he has on in the shouting match format. I just don’t have time for that – that’s why I don’t have a television – it became pointless.

Quite frankly if Rush were the old Go Go GOP!!! cheerleader he was during the Bush years I wouldn’t listen. Rush is wise. Rush is above Lilliputians who make up media. I can only speak for myself – starting about 2 or 3 years ago I stopped associating with those people, places and things (as much as I could) that didn’t help me in a struggle for spiritual (NOT religious) growth. I may turn out to be the funny old man at the end of the lane with schnauzers who nobody visits, but I’ve set a goal and Ingram, Savage et al. don’t render aid to that end. Rush and Beck do.

      DITTO!

Sean apparently doesn’t understand (or care) that when he says “did you hear what [some liberal/democrat/progressive] [did/said] today?” What thst does to his dwindling audience. By being the playground tattletale, he’s giving exposure to and amplifying their message which nobody would have heard except he repeats it. It’s the same criticism I have of Newsbusters.

John Gibson and Michael Medved have similar patterns – they have a handful of “regular callers” – Obama supporters who clearly have training in talking on the air – and they just toy with them, trying to make the caller look stupid and carry the same caller for half an hour.

Meanwhile, if Romney had been elected, I have no idea what he actually intended to do and “Conservative” broadcasters were afraid to ask, knowing they probably would not like the answers. The only thing I heard him say very clearly is that the US military should help topple Assad in Syria, which I don’t agree with.

      • Linda S. says:

I totally agree with you on your entire comment on Sean and Syria.
This was one time that, I feel, Russia has it right about Syria. It is the only country standing in the way of a total Islamic Caliphate.
