A few months ago, WGST-AM in Atlanta dropped its Conservatie talk format after Rush Limbaugh destroyed talk radio by calling someone a “Slut”. The station switched to ESPN Deportes, the Spanish language Version of ESPN. The highest ratings it got were 0.4% Even so, with much of their disposable income sent back “home”, temporary migrants don’t have a lot of discretionary income and many businesses don’t want them as customers, unless the government forces advertisers to want them.
June 5th, Conservative talk is returing to WGST – but without Rush. Clear Channel is the owner of WGST and they let the franchise star slip away to rival heritage station WSB-AM.

Glenn Beck and Andrea Tantaros – don’t know which will be on delay. I think Hannity as well. Don’t know about Humphries. It was pretty clearly boneheaded. There may have been a contractural reason. Changing formats is usually a way out of a syndication agreement. WGST has nowhere the signal of WSB. They wanted to move Rush to WSB and that got them off the hook with Rush.
Cox Radio is quickly heading toward the exit. I would not be surprised if Clear Channrl buys WSB-AM in the same way they wound up with WOR. The one remaining daughter of the original Mr Cox is in her 90s. Time for the third generation to take over and squander the family fortune
If they are truly Deportees, then they would no longer be in Atlanta and able to listen to the station. 😉
