New “List shows by program format” page

Due to overwhelming popular demand, I spent half an hour and slapped together this page:

http://streamingradioguide.com/streaming-shows-by-format.php?sformat=1

“Normal” navigation would be home page, then This page, then the format you’re looking for.

The page does not list shows already marked as “dead”, but you’re going to find lots of memories from the past of long gone shows that just haven’t been cleaned up yet.

Sequence is by number of affiliates, but that’s subject to further negotiation if anyone cares 🙂

It is good, but it would be much better to have a column indicating whether a show is available to listen NOW (Yes/No). Many shows are weekly (Bob Brinker, for example) or not available 24/7. Most users come to the site wanting to listen to a stream now rather than to plan for next Sunday afternoon.

With a list of shows streaming NOW, the user can click on them and then choose. Otherwise, lots of unfriendly clicking and going back…. like using CICS/3270 rather than iOS/Android. 😉

Hey – what’s wrong with CICS? 🙂 I think IBM 390 with MVS/CICS and lots of DASD is a great thing!

      With JES2, RJE and TSO/ISPF!

I hear stories of people with mainframes in their basement.

One of the weirder weeks of my life was around 1985 when I spent a couple days in Washington DC at the World Bank – they had a system that ran on IBM mainframes to use for exterminating native populations… Errrrr….. conducting a census of native populations. They wanted to try using the software in countries with unreliable power without having to build data centers – IBM had just announced a plugin board for the IBM PC that would allow a PC to boot and pretend to be an IBM mainframe – my memory is it was more like a 4300 than a S/370. University of Michigan wanted to have a look to see if it actually would work
