Death throes at TRN

A wild animal is never more dangerous than in the last few moments of life.

Tom Taylor reports this morning that TRN has filed a lawsuit against Jerry Doyle for allegedly trying to talk Rusty Humphries into leaving TRN

Laura Ingraham and Mike Savage had to fight legal battles (and won) to stop auto renewal of their contracts. Phil Hendrie has left. America’s news network was shut down with no notice. Andrea Tantaros filed a breach of contract against TRN demanding an affiliate list and accounting of the sales revenue since the bulk of her compensation is tied to ad sales. TRN filed suit against Dial Global (now named back to Westwood One and soon to be part of Cumulus Media) claiming that DG wasn’t selling its programs but steering stations toward DG’s own products.

Let’s say by some miracle TRN gets past this – how do you survive when you’ve sued almost everyone working on the air and you destroyed your relationship with your national syndicator and distributor?

The for-profit TRN is owned by the non profit religion called The Foundation for Human Understanding which distributes meditation tapes that help you calm your brain down. It is little more than the holding entity for Roy Masters and his decades long fight with the IRS over not filing tax returns. How much was FHU paying Andrea Tantaros for the national ad spots during her show?

Other than the weekend hosts, this leaves only Rusty Humphries.

Sam Sorbo, are you paying attention?

Jerry Doyle’s replacement today is Charles Butler, who used to be a host on Black Radio station WVON-AM in Chicago. He currently has a one hour weekend show on Salem’s WIND-AM. He is a black Conservative Republican.

Charles mentions that Jerry Doyle will be back soon, which seems highly unlikely.

Sirius/XM had death throws a frew years back, now they have a new channel lineup, starting tomorrow. Some channels added, some deleted, some shifted. Fox Talk will be on their internet only stream. Fox Business News returns (it had been on XM years ago) and takes over Bloomberg Radio’s channel 113. Bloomberg Radio moves to 119.
