Charlotte is a city in conflict. It faces an influx of people who left other places they hate and then want to create this island of sophistication in the middle of North Carolina. This is not particularly new. One of the big friction points in the 1970s was the state’s laws against serving alcohol in restaurants. Restaurants in Charlotte would regularly get busted for breaking the law. The law was changed to allow counties to decide individually, but much of the state is still “dry”.
While Publix grew up in Florida, the product lines suggest their target consumer are the “snowbirds” – People who live in Florida in the winter or move there after they retire. About the only “Southern” thing I see in their ads is Key Line Pie. I don’t think most Southerners view Florida as part of the South.
When I was cooking in Palm Beach I always thought of myself in a suburb of what Jesse so quaintly referred to as Hieme Town. When I took a year off – then I was in Flor-a-duh.
I will be in the Asheville area for Christmas Day. I will take photos of any ‘Snowbirds’ that happen to be out and about because they did not fly south for the winter.

With WABC losing both Rush and Hannity, along with Geraldo (and no Huckabee to pick up), I’m thinking having a job at WABC wouldn’t make you feel good about your future. Just imagine the same facts, but the host is Michael Savage doing the show remotely from California. Five weeks until flameout may be too optimistic.
What would be the top 10 things Savage could say or do that would make WABC sorry it has to air Savage’s show?

Well, he’s going to be on most of the Cumulus stations, not just WABC.
There is no doubt he will do that fairly quickly. John and Lew Dickey appear to be driven by profit. If Savage gets advertisers, they won’t be troubled by his politics
Ratings are a crude tool to measure success – but in the end, ratings don’t matter if nobody buys ads

What happened when Savage went on a tirade against Christians, which he does on a regular basis? – the most “over the line” being when Ann Coulter explained that her church requires her to try to “perfect” non-Christians by getting them to convert. In addition to calling her vicious named like a transgender whore, he went on to suggest essentially that Chistians are anti-Semites.
Savage was very much in the Roy Masters mode – being Jewish but using the Bible to try to assuage Christians that he is their pal and get their loyalty. Mark Levin has said on at least one occasion that this is part of why he hates Savage – that Michael Wiener uses a made up name to hide his Jewish heritage
Well, the Established Media LOVES to hate Christians like Coulter, and even promotes some hate at times, but What about their Lord and Master Iconic figure? CC, I read that article by Steven Cook you posted, excerpt from his book. Anyways, I had listened to Art Bell’s interview of Major Ed Dames, the Remote Viewer shortly after the plane mysteriously went down. Dames’ team had remote viewed the pilot and all I remember is he said the pilot shouted “Allah Akbar” several times followed by some sort of struggle in the cockpit. The show was recorded before the flight recorder had been recovered.
The article claims “el Batouty [pilot] seemed to declare, “I place my fate in the hands of God” — which, to some, indicates a Muslim preparing himself for imminent death — moments before the 767 began a 40 degree dive.”
I don’t remember the specifics, but I remember being so pissed off at something Kennedy wrote that I unsubscribed from something (podcast? Mailing list?)… Not so much because of what she said, but that it made it through the editorial review process.
I never watched MTV even when I had cable – except for their really strange game show parody. One of the segments was a parody of jeopardy – I was amused enough by the category “dead or Canadian” that I remember it still. The hardest question-answer was Lorne Green – it was a trick answer because the correct response was “both”
